This is my Eastern bluebird, drawn in pastel pencil and printed onto a 3x4 magnet with a glossy cover.
Bluebirds nest in cavities, old woodpecker holes and hollow fence posts, and through the last century they kept losing those spots to house sparrows and starlings. What brought them back was people putting up nest boxes. Thousands of them, along fence lines and field edges, built in garages by people who just wanted the birds around. It worked. That is a rarer kind of conservation story than it should be.
