A pink flamingo, hand drawn in pastel pencil. Flamingos aren't born pink. They get their color from pigments in the algae and brine shrimp they filter out of the water, so the shade shifts with what they eat.

The coordinates in the design point to Lake Natron in Tanzania, an alkaline lake where an estimated 75% of the world's lesser flamingos hatch. Its caustic water would be dangerous to most animals, but lesser flamingos have adapted to raise their chicks in one of the most extreme environments going.
