Description

I drew this baby hummingbird in pastel pencil, working slow to get the down feathers and that fragile look right before they fledge. Hummingbird chicks grow fast, they can leave the nest within three weeks of hatching, but they still look impossibly delicate at this stage.

This is the original piece, one of a kind, signed and framed in a black wood frame with glass protection and a certificate of authenticity.

A note on handling: I don't apply a fixative or sealant to my pastel work. Sealants dull the color and flatten the surface, and I would rather the piece stay as it came off the board. That does mean the surface stays fragile. Keep it framed, and don't touch the artwork itself, because pastel will smear if it's handled.
